Did anyone hear about this??? I didn't!

A Russian gift to the U.S.? I had never heard of this before receiving an e-mail. Wonder why the press didn't report it?
This is the "TEAR DROP" made and installed by the Russians to honor those who died in 9 11 and a statement against terrorism. It is very impressive.
The tear drop is lined up with the Statue of Liberty.Gift from the people of Russia......."Monument to the struggle against world terrorism, artist Zurab Tesereteii" ....it is an impressive memorial and statement against terrorism.
The walkway is made of stones.Names of the persons killed on 9 11 are inscribed on the base. The base like the Vietnam Memorial wall. It was a cold and windy day but well worth the drive to see. It is down in the shipping yards across from "The Lady".

Below is some more information off of Snopes. I did check it before I posted this !
Commentary:
According to this email forward, attached photographs show a spectacular monument that was a gift to the United States from Russia. The information in the message is true. The monument, which features a 40 foot steel teardrop suspended within a large bronze-clad tower, is a memorial to the victims of 9/ll and the 1993 World Trade Center bombings. As noted in the message, it is indeed a gift from the Russian people. Information about the memorial published in a brochure available on the memorial website notes:
Time cures everything, but there are things we cannot and must not forget. Standing more than 100 feet tall, "To the Struggle Against World Terrorism" honors victims of 9/11 and the 1993 World Trade Center bombings and serves as a symbol of solidarity in the fight against world terrorism. Created by Russian sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, the memorial was a gift from the Russian people. Dedicated on September 11, 2006, it stands in direct view of the Statue of Liberty and the former World Trade Center The memorial is located at The Peninsula at Bayonne Harbor, New Jersey. A 2006 entry on the "Milestones" Page of The Peninsula at Bayonne Harbor website records the unveiling of the memorial:
On September 11, 2006, the 100-foot monument, "To the Struggle Against World Terrorism," is unveiled at a dedication ceremony featuring former President Clinton, Governor Corzine, Senators Menendez and Lautenberg and other dignitaries. The monument was created and donated by artist Zurab Tsereteli and the people of Russia to memorialize the victims of the Sept. 11 and the 1993 World Trade Center attacks. The memorial is the centerpiece of Harbor View Park located on the northeast corner of The Peninsula. Two weeks after the dedication ceremony, the first mile of greenway on The Peninsula is open to the public for the first time in a generation. The community is invited for a celebration and tour.
A June 2007 article in the New Yorker also discusses the memorial:
France gave us the Statue of Liberty. Now Russia has given us "To the Struggle Against World Terrorism," another XXL, in-a-class-of-its-own monument. If you have not seen it, that may be because you haven’t recently approached New York City by ship. For those coming in from the Atlantic, through the Narrows, the Russian gift now heaves into view well before Lady Liberty. That is intentional, according to Zurab Tsereteli, the Moscow-based sculptor who created the monument.
"To the Struggle Against World Terrorism" stands at the end of a long, man-made peninsula in Bayonne, New Jersey, and it looks from a distance like a giant tea biscuit.
As you get closer, however, you will begin to make out an immense, stainless-steel teardrop—the Tear of Grief—hanging in a jagged crack that runs down the middle of the main slab.
Zurab Tsereteli is a well respected, multi-talented artist whose works appear in many cities around the world.
Thought this was worth posting.

I met with the Vascular surgeon this afternoon. I was able to postpone the bypass surgery until the 22nd of next month. I hope to get all my business & work wrapped up before then. He said that I should only be down(immobile) for approx. a month. ONLY a month???? well, the good news is that once this is fixed, then I will be able to get back into an excercise program and get back into shape. Something that I have been unable to do, because of the 3 1/2 minute limitation that I'm under right now.
Will post more when I have something worthwhile to post. Hopefully, it will be a fly day.

Below is a message from Ann about her involvement, again this year. Please take a few minutes, and give this some serious consideration. I'm sure all of the babies will appreciate it ! Thanks Ann, for all that you do.

I am very excited to be a huge part of the March of Dimes and the March for Babies.
I am the co-chair of the March of Dimes Board, the co-chair for Program services, an advocate for Public Affairs and the Team Captain of Erlanger's Marching Team. Please support my participation by making a donation. I know during these tough economic times it's harder to give up any spare change but my babies need you more than ever this year.
We, as TN, have more premature babies and a higher infant mortality rate than some third world countries and that is unacceptable in my eyes. Why March for Babies? Because the March of Dimes champions the needs of moms and babies in our community and across the nation. The money we raise for March for Babies will help: - support all-important research offering preventions and solutions for babies born too soon or with birth defects - educate women on things they can do to increase their chances of having a healthy baby - provide comfort and information to families with a newborn in intensive care - push for newborn screening and health insurance for all pregnant women and children.
Won't you please help me in this worthy cause?
Contributing to my walk online is fast, easy and secure.
You can donate directly from my personal webpage with a credit card or PayPal.
If you prefer, I can also accept cash or check. Just click the appropriate box on my webpage.

Thanks so much from the bottom of my heart and feet.

My babies thank you from the bottom of their hearts and little hinies :)

Love, Ann

Please take a look at this. I am very scared about this one folks. This bill was introduced on March 9, 09. It PASSED the House on the 18th. They are trying to run this thru before the public can become aware of it.
I imagine that as soon as the Senate comes back from break, they will try and pass this the first day.

H.R. 1388 WAS PASSED IN THE CONGRESS YESTERDAY---HEADING FOR THE SENATE-CALLYOUR REPRESENTATIVES!!!! WRITE THEM!!! STOP THIS BILL!!!If you don't know what this bill is about, here is a link to give you a general idea....http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2210468/posts
Many, however, are raising concerns that the program, which is intended to include 250,000 "volunteers," is the beginning of what President Obama called his "National Civilian Security Force" in a a speech last year in which he urged creating an organization as big and well-funded as the U.S. military. He has declined since then to elaborate. ..."The legislation also refers to "uniforms" that would be worn by the "volunteers" and the "need" for a "public service academy, a 4-year institution" to "focus on training" future "public sector leaders." The training, apparently, would occur at "campuses." This is basically a big version of Hilter's Youth! Look into it!

Click on the links below to see all this for yourself. There is no hoax, or urban legends here.

H.R. 1388:
111th Congress
This is a bill in the U.S. Congress originating in the House of Representatives ("H.R."). A bill must be passed by both the House and Senate and then be signed by the President before it becomes law.
Bill numbers restart from 1 every two years. Each two-year cycle is called a session of Congress. This bill was created in the 111th Congress, in 2009-2010.
The titles of bills are written by the bill's sponsor and are a part of the legislation itself. GovTrack does not editorialize bill summaries.

Hang Gliding discussed by someone almost Everyone knows. I would imagine that every club on the planet is going to try and get Nicolas Cage to come and fly Their site. However, a member of the Tenneessee Tree Toppers has already gotten a response from his publicity people. I would love to have him, and all of his crew here, but I think the fact that he is just doing it "somewhere" would really plant a major seed in the publics eye! ! ! Watch the below link, and if you don't want to listen to all of it,, then forward to about 3:30 in it. I got really excited about this, and I hope everyone else does as well !

A huge Praise report. I am back on the road, working again. Thanks for all the Prayers and positive emails during the trying time !
I'm in Mississippi for the next day, or so. Doing my best to make sure that the 911 dispatchers know what their doing, and all their equipment is working like it should be. Tough job, but,,,,,:^)

As a photographer, on a yearly basis, you must clean up & out your files. Otherwise, in just a few years, you have more junk/old pics than you can manage. These first 2 pics are from a good friend, Ricker, and they are taken on a very cold and icy day at Henson's Gap's new Radial ramp. I had misplaced them until today's file dump/clean up. How appropriate to post at the end of the winter season, with the first day of spring being 8 days away, with it rearing it's nasty & cold head one last time.
NONE of the pictures from this post can be pirated for publication, and/or for Any use, except for your own personal use. That's my disclaimer, to keep from getting sued. Not by Ricker, but the ones from the 3td pic down.

These pics below are called "World Images". They are from National Geographic, I think. They are published for a cost to the public. However, I got them free with my new computer. Enjoy them, however, be careful if you Really like them ! :^)

These pictures look like some that Jono Fisher would take. Yeah, he's that good ! Google his name, he has a great business !

Just a note to let everyone know that I made it thru the 72 hours---take it easy & just relax & recoup period. I didn't chomp too much at the bit, knowing that it was only going to be 3 days, if I behaved myself. I just hope that I can talk the Dr. into letting me postpone the next one until winter time! ! I do not relish the thought of loosing a month 1/2 during the spring/early summer flying season. If I have a choice about it,,,it will be when there's snow on the ground, and I can stay in doors for a reason !
Thanks for all the emails, and positive feed back ! It really helped me, more than you know!

Just a short note to assure everyone on my condition. I'm in good condition, and in a good frame of mind. I am soar, and in need of some serious airtime, in some rock-n-roll, rodeo air. I don't care how I get it(slope launch, cliff, radial, concrete, grasss, platform, static, aero), I will be getting some next week. It's going to take another day or so for me to feel comfortable with my condition.
Have to admit,,the thought of myself being laid up for 4-6 weeks scares me a bunch. But, like Sean Connery said once in a movie, " there's nothing like a challenge, to bring out the best in a man".

Monday, March 02, 2009

Just a note to let everyone know how today transpired. You don't always get what you want, but most of the time, you get what you need. For example, a month ago, no one had an idea what was wrong with my leg cramps & pain. Finally, the vascular specialist found the problem.
It was suppose to be an easy operation, and it was for the most part. The big snag in the plan was that one side was suppose to be 75% blocked, and 65%. Once they got the dye into my system this morning, it was 75%--on the bloomin' right side. The darn left side was 100%. Which meant, they could do the right side, and attempt to do the left, but,,, now a full blown procedure will have to take place on the left.
I made it thru today fine. Just soar as heck. I followed the doctors orders, and subsequently,,,I didn't bleed out thru the femural artery. The nights young tho', lol.
Thanks for all the positive comments, and prayers! Keep them coming,,,,still in need of them.

We got a little snow on top of the mountain today. Not nearly as bad, as the 5 hours without power. That wasn't fun, at all. These shots are of our hibiscus that we brought inside to make it thru the wintertime. As you can tell from the blooms,,,it likes it inside !

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers on Monday. I have never been one to just lay around, even when it's to re-coop ! See you on the other side !
